Turn off the computer and turn it to see the back part. If it’s a tower, find the cable that comes from the computer monitor, and follow it to the back of the PC.
The cable will be connected to the output of the video card, which will be a 15-pin VGA or a 29-pin DVI port. If you are lucky, there will be a second port just next to the DVI or VGA variety. On the most recent screens, one can even find an HDMI port.
If the unit has an HDMI port, simply connect an HDMI cable of sufficient length between the computer and the TV.
If there is no HDMI jack, it will be a bit more complicated, but do not worry, we will get there. If your equipment only has an individual video output that you use for something else, you may need to buy a new video card. Purchase one with a DVI connector or HDMI output, and install it into an available slot, as instructed. If you want to use the VGA output for a single screen or a dual output card to control the HDMI display, a special device will be needed to convert from VGA to HDMI.
The price of the converter is actually almost the same as that of a video card. In this case, updating the card in order to get a DVI or HDMI port may be a good idea. However, if your chosen output port is a DVI, an economical DVI to HDMI cable can convert the video output of your equipment to the correct HDMI input of the TV.
Connect the HDMI cable from your TV to your computer. Install the adapter for your device, if necessary. Unless your equipment has an HDMI output, the cables must also be connected to the sound card output for the HDMI video cable or to an adapter, as the HDMI transmits video and audio signals.
Connect your computer, and configure the new screen, select the Control Panel from the start menu. Double-click the screen icon and click the configuration tab.
The manual of your HDMI television will tell you the screen resolutions it supports, with the renewal rates. Configure the resolution of the configuration tab and then click the “Advanced” button to set the update frequency. If you are using the HDMI TV as the second monitor, you will also need to configure how it is used by Windows in accordance with the instructions for the video card. Most cards offer a “clone” or “mirror”, where both screens show the same content. As an alternative, the “Extended Desktop” mode will allow each monitor to operate independently.
Restart the PC for the changes to take effect and get ready to see the best resolution movies and series on your TV.
Now that the PC is connected to HDMI television, it would be nice to add a mouse and a wireless keyboard to the setup, so that the equipment can be controlled from the sofa.Tags: connect the computer, HDMI cable, TV
